Leadership
Coaching style
-
My leadership style is largely based on a coaching-first approach. I believe in training our future communicators and leaders to the best they can be, and I care deeply about the welfare of my team members in addition to the brand I am helping lead. I value trust, authenticity, and empowerment, and I love training team members in strategy and skills that will help them succeed. I believe in taking care of our people above all else.
-
Every quarter, I run reflection sessions with my team to help them develop their self-awareness and their ability to tie their personal interests and skills to business value-add efforts. These sessions convey what is important and relate to the strategy we work to live out each day; for example, I may ask them what they took chances on the prior quarter, or what they learned and what they did with that new insight, or where they took initiative and how it went.
-
In content training, I use scaffolding techniques to coach my writers toward independence. I always start new projects with a strategy discussion and clear assignments. Then, when reviewing new writers' work, I provide deep insights and extensive context into why edits need to be made. I also provide opportunities for the writer to make the edit (instead of me saying "change x to y," I explain what I'm looking for and ask the writer to take another stab at it). As they learn the context and strategy, their work requires fewer edits, and they can work independently. Then, I work more in the initial strategy part and the approval part, empowering my team members to learn and grow and take initiative in myriad ways.

Positioning strategy
-
Over 6 months from November 2023-April 2024, I co-led a corporate repositioning effort beginning with workshop facilitation among 7 executives, progressing to manager rollouts, and ending with both company-wide announcements and a full content update of dozens of resources to align with the shift. The effort required change management principles, stakeholder buy-in, positioning expertise, project management skills, and marketing acumen. The result was a more aligned workforce and a more cohesive brand identity.

PR strategy & plans
-
I created AdDaptive's PR plan from scratch, noting key pillars (corporate comms, media relations, community relations, crisis management, and events management). I organized our programs based on the 4 quadrants of the PESO Model © by Gini Dietrich & Spin Sucks: paid, earned, shared, and owned media. I secured the company's first industry article, conference speaking opp, co-marketing opp, press release pickups, and more.
-
I crafted AdDaptive's mission, vision, and values, and managed the corporate rollout, complete with a launch party, swag boxes, recognition alignment, and more.
-
I ran PR for AdDaptive's inclusion in a Forrester Wave report in 2022, ensuring cohesion across web, press, graphics, social, email, sales, events, and more.
-
I've run events for several companies, from dinners and variety shows to cocktail parties and career panels.

Content strategy & plans
-
In my position as senior director of communications and branding strategy / head of brand and content, where I have run the brand and content team for over 7 years, I craft all of our content & comms strategies and plans (encompassing positioning, narrative, audience, goals, branding, direction, PR, content, training, L&D, GTM, etc.). I oversee all 17+ programs, craft and implement project plans (PMO), and collaborate across 8+ teams for alignment. At AdDaptive, in starting the content marketing function from scratch, I launched the corporate blog, email, video, ads, PR, and resource library, introducing the company to content marketing and PR. I thrive whether given a blank slate or a starting point, as I enjoy getting sincerely curious about our operations and our offering and devising strategies that help us win in the specific places and ways we want.

Talent development and L&D
-
I care deeply about the development of my people and I put a lot time into L&D design that is specific to each person's needs as well as to our functional growth overall. I train employees on everything from skills to professionalism, from organization to communication, and everything in between.
-
I train teams company-wide on messaging, content usage, file access, organization, corporate strategy, and communication. I especially love facilitating strategy workshops and running leadership focus groups or management trainings.
-
After several years of iterating and incorporating new insights to test new angles, I crafted a unique performance review structure at AdDaptive for the brand and content team. The quarterly review documents use a double-blind method to promote self-awareness from the employee and recognition from his/her manager. The documents begin with previously agreed upon OKRs and a clear rating structure. An explicitly outlined 3-question rating system follows, with examples noted for each rating. Then there are a few reflective questions based on what's important at that time or what that person is working on. Then there is a general catch-all section. This structure has enabled much more fruitful dialogue between manager and employee and has boosted employee growth tenfold throughout the years. Team members have expressed appreciation for the new system and its positive impact.

Brainstorm program
-
In 2022, I created a content brainstorm program and training series that boosted my content team’s output by over 400%. Seeing content generation as an obstacle and aiming to support my team against their content generation goals, I created a 30-slide deck, trained my team, facilitated discussions and additional training sessions, launched a peer collaboration series with biweekly meetings, assigned weekly content idea generation goals to each team member, and met one-on-one and as a team to discuss progress. The program resulted in generating 4x as many content assets that were strategically aligned and therefore able for me to greenlight and put into production. This program was featured in an article by Spin Sucks, which you can read here.

Content & design
Content calendar
-
I created a content calendar for AdDaptive Intelligence where I have run the content and brand team for over 7 years. This is our team's primary project management system, tracking format, internal vs. external, purpose, project group, deliverable, status, owner, date assigned, date submitted, link, notes, and teams affected. Each project has a project group template that is applied to each iteration and edited based on deliverable, owner, and timing. This serves as a form of communication and accountability so everyone knows timeline, dependencies, bandwidth, expectations, and next steps.

Content roadmap
-
I create the content team's roadmap at AdDaptive, run strategy sessions with the content team, and serve as chief strategist and editor-in-chief of all content. My team members do fantastic work creating resonant content across many channels and programs, including blog, ads, video, sales decks, one-sheets, conference sponsorships, email marketing, competitive analysis, eBooks, bylines, social media, and more.
-
I work with product to learn about our enhancements and releases, and I work with sales to understand their strategies and insights. I then use this information to craft a roadmap that is strategically sound that also has flexibility to adjust as needed.
-
I adjust our roadmap based on changes in the market or in our strategy or positioning, and I communicate the change, context, and next steps to my team.

Email marketing strategy
-
I have created email marketing strategies for many companies across many verticals, from arts administration to retail to association management to B2B tech, spanning both B2C and B2B.
-
I have brought drip campaigns, monthly newsletters, and sales email support to several companies, and have been responsible for doubling sales reply rates and tripling marketing email clicks.
-
I have conducted A/B testing on subject lines, newsletter titles, sending cadence, button text, linked text vs. button, and more. Incorporating data into our email strategy and leveraging automation within email tools allows us to learn about our audience and their preferences based on their behaviors. Those insights then inform future decisions that more readily connect with readers and push prospects through the funnel in meaningful ways.

Design vision
-
I provide creative direction and oversee all design work at AdDaptive, where I manage a senior graphic designer. From new logos and fonts to innovative formats for one-sheets and slides, from ad campaigns and videos to branded collateral and process graphics, my designer and I work closely together to create aesthetically beautiful and strategically aligned designs that represent (and elevate!) our brand and resonate with our target audience.

Website redesign
-
I have been a part of several website redesigns or from-scratch designs throughout the years, from a corporate site for Actors' Shakespeare Project in 2013 to sites for clients at Virtual, Inc. to redesigns at AdDaptive Intelligence, the most recent one having taken place in 2022. I have worked directly with web developers and design teams to craft wireframes and site structures, write all content, direct all design, incorporate SEO, and train teams on usage. I would also play a key role in maintenance and enhancements thereafter, and would manage the blog and web upkeep on my team or myself personally.

Strategic marketing content
-
I believe all content should have a purpose and should be created with the goal of resonating with its recipient. Everywhere I work, I ensure all content is created thoughtfully and strategically, never to appease and never without purpose. I train my writers to identify hook, audience, and goal for every content asset they create.
-
I run the strategic content program at AdDaptive. I created a content submission form where employees can submit a request that is vetted by key questions and rankings. I identify the goal/CTA, audience, and core idea for each piece of content and create or oversee the creation of the asset, directing each phase of the content production cycle.
-
I have been responsible for 100+ blog posts, 130+ one-sheets, dozens of slide decks, 40+ videos, 40+ ad campaigns, several press releases, and much more. I also brought all of our content online, moving the company content practice from attachments to URLs to gather on content for the first time ever.
-
Highlights include: a leave-behind resource, a sales demo deck, a master slide library, go-to-market content for launching several new products & features, content that reflected repositioning shifts, a case study overhaul, COVID-specific language, and content that focuses on customer benefits rather than product features.

Content libraries
-
I created full-funnel content categorization systems in Salesforce and Google Drive and trained teams on access and usage. I also have created a resource library at AdDaptive that serves as the main access point for all sales and marketing resources, housing 140+ one-sheets, 65 videos, 130+ blog posts, 6 FAQs documents, 3 sales decks, and more.

Public speaking & narrative strategy
-
Combining my theatre roots with my love for teaching, connecting, and devising strategic messaging, I have been public speaking for many years. My first role was at age 4 in community theatre, and I studied theatre in college. I have performed on stage in 11 plays and musicals and dozens of concerts. I have used my skills in empathy, stage presence, and dramaturgy to elevate my public speaking skills as well as others'. I also have a certificate in Rhetoric: The Art of Persuasive Writing and Public Speaking from HarvardX.
-
I have coached dozens of presenters on public speaking, including the preparation for 20+ sponsored events at AdDaptive.
-
One highlight was when I co-ghostwrote the keynote speech for the 2017 IEEE SecDev Conference for Dell EMC’s Head of Product Security. The speech helped the association land several major clients, from popular social media networks to prestigious university programs.

Audience empathy
-
I created AdDaptive's first customer journey map in 2023, categorizing the audience's touchpoints throughout the funnel against various marketing and sales promotions and efforts. This was the first time teams shift their view to the audience's perspective rather than internal processes.
-
I crafted AdDaptive's first customer survey in 2025. Our goal was to learn more about our brand-direct customers, and while internal knowledge proved helpful, I believe empathy and data should come from the source, so I created a strategy, survey, and promotional plan to gather these insights.

Event sponsorship
-
I managed over $200k in annual sponsorship budgets and ran all content and promotions for each event, including branding, ad campaigns, branded gifts, promo emails, raffles, cocktail hours, social media, videos, blog posts, graphic design packages, press releases, and more.
-
I ran pre-event prep sessions with our sales reps, I attended contract negotiations with the event vendors, and I held post-event debriefs with on-site reps. Afterward, I oversaw our content team's post-event promotions to event attendees, containing ads, emails, recap blog posts, and more.

Association management
-
Throughout my time at Virtual, Inc., an association management company, I worked with professional associations at various stages of the lifecycle, from inception through maturity to sunset. I worked with clients including SAFECode, NFC Forum, SGIP/SEPA, ASAP, IMTA, DAA, DSC, SEMPO, CXPA, FIDO, and more.
-
I helped launch several associations. My work included naming & packaging, branding strategy, color palette, logo creation, design system development, marketing and PR strategies and plans, project management, product development, event marketing, and more, through close collaboration with the client and my team.

Ad campaigns
-
I directed the creation of 40+ ad campaigns at AdDaptive, spanning display, native, video, CTV, and audio ads. I crafted the strategy, trained my teams on messaging and design, either wrote or reviewed all copy, approved all designs, created an org chart template for documentation and easy resource access, facilitated the handoff across teams, and reviewed analytics insights to fuel future implementation.
-
I oversaw the company's first sequential messaging ad series and was instrumental in the foundations of messaging strategy, project management, creative vision, and analytical review that became the norm for ad campaigns at AdDaptive.
